Mr. Ong John Kgee stared learning Taekwon-Do in Ipoh, under the kind guidance of Master Dang Kok Wai, in 1988 at the tender age of 10. Having been generally introverted in character, Mr. Ong was introduced, early on, as to the benefits and the opportunities by which Taekwon-Do had offered with respect to social situations. 

 

Mr. Ong was upgraded to 1st Dan in 1991, and subsequently 2nd Dan in 1994, and 3rd Dan in 1998. He continued to assist Master Dang as an Assistant Instructor and taught in schools and other private spaces. His experience there had taught Mr. Ong that teaching provided countless opportunities for a Taekwon-Do practitioner to learn. 

 

Mr. Ong was appointed as the President and instructor of the University Technology Malaysia (ITTHO) from 1998 to 2000. Mr. Ong was also appointed the Chairman of the Organising Committee of the University ITF Taekwon-Do Invitation Tournament in 1999.

 

Mr. Ong came to Singapore in 2001 and joined International Taekwon-Do Federation Singapore (ITFS) led by the late Mr. Michael Pang. Mr. Ong was duly registered as a licensed martial arts instructor with the Martial Art Control Unit, National Registration Department, Singapore. Mr. Ong continued to compete in local and international competitions and had excelled in both pattern and sparring events. 

 

In 2003, Mr. Ong represented Singapore in the 13th ITF World Championships in Greece, Thessaloniki, and was award the Bronze Medal in the 3rd Dan Male Patterns Event. Mr. Ong had also represented Singapore in the 19th World Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria in 2015. 

 

Mr. Ong continues his quest to improve is Taekwon-Do skills till this date by attending seminars and has been extremely determined in persisting black belt trainings after Mr. Pang's passing. 

 

Mr. Ong had previously taught at Yishun Zone F RC at Blk 81 and Blk 850, Bukit Batok Zone 1 RC at Bt Batok west Ave 4, Yuhua Zone 5 RC at Jurong East St 31 and Nanyang Zone 4 RC at Jurong West St 81. 

 

Mr. Ong is currently the instructor of Tampines Greenvale RC, located at Blk 738 Tampines St 72, Multipurpose Hall.
